I. Liên từ là gì?
Liên từ (conjunctions) là từ dùng để nối các từ, cụm từ hoặc mệnh đề lại với nhau. Trong văn viết học thuật, liên từ giúp:
- Kết nối ý tưởng mạch lạc
- Tổ chức cấu trúc câu logic
- Làm bài viết chuyên nghiệp và rõ ràng hơn
II. Các loại liên từ phổ biến
1. Liên từ kết hợp (Coordinating Conjunctions)
→ Dùng để nối hai thành phần ngang hàng (hai câu, hai danh từ, v.v.)
🔸 and – bổ sung
🔸 but – tương phản
🔸 or – lựa chọn
🔸 so – kết quả
🔸 for – lý do
🔸 yet – bất chấp
Ví dụ:
🔸 The theory is sound, but the evidence is lacking.
🔸 You can submit your paper by email or in person.
2. Liên từ phụ thuộc (Subordinating Conjunctions)
→ Dùng để bắt đầu mệnh đề phụ (dependent clause)
🔸 because, although, while, since, unless, if, even though
Ví dụ:
🔸 Although the sample size was small, the results were significant.
🔸 We will proceed if the data supports our hypothesis.
3. Liên từ tương quan (Correlative Conjunctions)
→ Dùng theo cặp để nhấn mạnh quan hệ giữa hai yếu tố
🔸 either… or
🔸 not only… but also
🔸 neither… nor
Ví dụ:
🔸 Not only did the experiment fail, but it also caused unexpected reactions.
🔸 Either you revise your thesis, or you risk rejection.
